Steeler’s win Superbowl
February 2, 2009
The Steelers and the Cardinals played in the greatest game of the season, the superbowl, this Sunday. These two teams were playing great from the start of the playoffs until now. They both had great chances to win, and used them well. All though both teams had chances to win, the Steeler’s made the chances count.
The Steelers played amazing in this game. They finally found one of there best widereceiver’s on the team, Holmes. He played awsome, and had a big part in the Steeler’s pulling this one off. He had an amazing drive to put the Steeler’s up late in the fourth quarter. He made 3 amazing catches to get the Steeler’s into scoring position. After catching those three, they were in the red zone. On the next play, Ben Roethisberger dropped back to deliver the pass. He had no one open at all. Holmes was being covered by 3 people in the back corner of the end zone. Ben had no one else able to catch the ball, so he threw it up in the back corner to Holmes. He jumped up over 3 defenders and made the catch. Mantaining possesion, he came down and got two feet in for the touchdown. It was amazing, no one else thought that he could make the catch. I have no clue what Ben was thinking throwing the ball up to him, but he must have seen something that I couldn’t. After making the catch, the Steeler’s were up 4, putting the Cardinals in a bad position.
The Cardinals also played pretty good in this one, but not good enough. They were down 2 tochdowns at the start of the 2nd half, and no one thought that they had a chance to come back. Somehow, they did, pulling off 2 touchdowns passes. Larry Fitz had one of them, to put the Cardinals ahead. After they got ahead, they let the Steeler’s got back down and score again, putting them down by 4. Then, the Cardinals had about 30 seconds to score. The first play, Warner dropped back and threw a pass over the top to Larry Fitz for about a 25 yard game. On the next play he dropped back and threw it over the top to his half back for about a 7 yard game. On the next play, there was about 10 seconds left. Kurt Warner dropped back and scrambled out to make the pass. He brought his arm back and started to go forward to throw the ball. The Steeler’s hit it out of his hand for what should have been and incomplete pass. But, the refs called it a fumble. Then they didn’t even review it, which caused the Steeler’s to win the game. It was amazing that the refs didn’t even just review it to make sure that his arm wasn’t going forward for the pass.
After all the bad things that happened in this game, the Steeler’s pulled it off. All though they didn’t do great on offense there defense played great. Having the best defense in the NFL really helped them. Now every one will have to wait until next season to find out who will win the next superbowl. I can’t wait till next season!
