Eagles soar through Giants!
January 11, 2009
The Philadelphia Eagles are now going to the NFC championship game after beating the Giants 23 - 11. Both teams played great, but the Eagles came out on top. Neither team was doing so great during the first half of the game. Towards the end, the Eagles offense started clicking, letting them score a few points.
Donovan Mcnabb of the Eagles played great. He didn’t do to hot the first half of the game. He threw an interception and only had 18 yards passing on 8 attempts. Towards the end of the game, he threw a tochdown to his tight end, wich put the Eagles ahead. He also ran on in himself. The Eagles defense did great again this game. Assante Samuel gat a huge interception, and ran it back to the 1 yard line. This lead to McNabb running a touchdown in. The game most likely would have ended up different, if the Eagles did not get the interception. The Giants got great field position lots of times, but the Eagles held them from scoring any touchdowns.
The Giants didnt play to great. Quarterback Eli Manning did not throw any touchdowns. He did throw on interception, leading the Giants to the loss. The Giants did do good running the ball, but it wasn’t enough. They couldn’t only depend on there running backs to win the game for them, all tho they are good. The really needed Manning to have a big game for them to win, wich didn’t happen. The Eagles stopped the Giants on fourth down multiple times, leading to lots of Eagles scoring drives. The Giants defense did play pretty good, getting two interceptions off of McNabb, and stopping the Eagles in the red zone a few times.
Now that the Eagles won, they will be advancing to the NFC championship game, while the Giants get ready for next season. With the Eagles on a great winning run, I don’t think anyone will be able to stop them. I think they will go all the way and win it all, for there first time ever. We will see next Sunday, when the Eagles square off against the Cardinals.
